The dust of Life

Who doesn’t like the smell of books.? The hint of vanila the paper gives off appeals to my soul and pricks my nose. The smell of old books, redolent of dust and decayed hopes can take one to a different world, in a different time. It’s lived a countless lives.

It’s surely through books that we travel time now.I used to love books. School days were the times when I used to spend hours reading. Books took me to Utopia, and everything seemed perfect there. I would not want to come back, because I had a sense of revulsion for the real world. Those were the times when books were my best friend. I’ve always been an introvert and I found my friends in the fiction characters. I’ve walked along bambi in the forest and rushed out of the party with Cinderella.

Growing up, you could always find a book in my bag. A book is something that takes the most space in a bag, but my bag would be incomplete without the presence of it. But soon my study materials outweighed my books and the book lover got lost in the journey of life.

But Let’s get knowing the experience of an actual bibliophile-

“Books have been my companions for as long as I remember. One of my first and favorite childhood memories is of sitting in grandpa’s lap while he reads me Goldilocks and the three bears. Almost everyone in my house reads, so I was always encouraged to read.If you ask me why do I read, I would say to escape from my monotonous life. It is so much fun, getting lost in someone else’s life. Being an introvert, when minimum human exposure is my mantra, books let me travel around the world, fall in love, fight magical beasts and live through the experiences of others. I have laughed with characters and bawled with them too. In childhood the characters used to be my imaginary friends. No matter how sad or angry I am, books have always made me feel better

I prefer books to movies, because I can connect more to the protagonists in books. Mostly because they are written in first person and we get to know what is happening in their heads.”- Anupama

Let’s plunge into a new tale everyday, make new friends everyday, walk and dance along with them everyday and connect ourselves to the emotions of the characters everyday.
